The main responsibility of the Department of Administration
and Finance is to provide support to the Regional Office and offices of the
WHO representatives in 11 Member Countries of the South-East Asia Region in
the areas of human resources, budget and financial management, informatics
systems management, administrative services, procurement of supplies and
equipment for projects, legal advice and staff security.
The Department facilitates and supports the work of the
whole Region, and at the same time ensures fulfilment of its obligations towards Member Countries and donors in
respect of efficient management of resources in a transparent manner with
accountability.
In addition to the above, from the managerial point of
view, the Department also has responsibility in the area of Governing Bodies,
and deals with administrative and logistical support to the Health Ministers'
Meeting, Health Secretaries' Meeting, Consultative Committee for Programme
Development and Management, and Regional Committees.
