In 2010-11, the WHO will invest more than
$25million in developing the professional capabilities of its staff. This
investment reflects the WHO's commitment to valuing the performance of
all employees. It is critical to building the capacity, capability and
sustainability of the Organisation's workforce
who have the greatest impact on health development and health status of
our Member States.
SDL is charged with implementing the
Organization’s training and learning policy which is based on the
principle that staff development is an ongoing process and priority and a
critical investment for the future, for which the Organization, its
managers and staff all share responsibility.
The Mission
of the SDL Unit is to provide WHO SEAR staff with innovative, practical
opportunities to learn allowing them to develop knowledge, skills, and
abilities in order to more effectively further the overall mission and
goals of WHO.
Our objective is to:
Provide a comprehensive, coordinated
system of staff development programs that is informed by research and
best practice in education and professional development,
that meets the diverse needs and interests of WHO staff and
supports in their work.
