PUBLIC HEALTH INITIATIVE

 

Public Health Initiative/PHI is one of WHO SEARO’s key efforts in advocating and implementing public health to deal with evolving challenges faced by the health system within the context of Primary Health Care revitalization. The anticipated outcomes will be a health system that is more accessible, equitable and sustainable. PHI will use PHC and Epidemiology as its main tool.

PHI acknowledges the role of other disciplines beyond health and will closely works with scientists/experts in environment, psycho-social, politic and economic fields.

 

 

1.     Vision

Public Health Initiative aims at promoting public health in health development of its member states in order to achieve equitable health for all.

 

2.     Mission

Public Health Initiative focuses on better education and training of Public Health Workforce and Public Health programme implemented through the health system based on primary health care.

 

3.     Goal

To improve the health status of the entire population through reduction of disease burden by implementing more effective and efficient public health interventions with full participation of the community and in close collaboration with relevant sectors using multidisciplinary approach.

 

4.     Objective

a.      To strengthen health promotion and primary prevention

b.      To promote Healthy Public Policies

c.      To strengthen Public Health Workforce with emphasis on Community Based Health Worker (CBHW) and Community Health Volunteer (CHV)

d.      To strengthen public health education and training including teaching of public health in medical schools.
