Organized a Peer Review meeting for review and
finalization of “Regional Strategic Directions for Strengthening CBHWs and CHVs in SEAR
Countries”, SEARO, 22-23 January 2008.
Finalized, printed and distributed the
“Regional Strategic Directions” to Member countries.
Participated in “Global Health Workforce Alliance (GHWA) Forum, Kampala, Uganda,
2-7 March 2008.
Participated and made a presentation at the
AAAH Training Workshop on Regional Guidelines for Country Strategic Planning
of HRH, Manila,
5-9 May 2008.
Supported participation of nationals from
selected SEAR countries at the AAAH Training Workshop, Manila, 5-9 May
2008.
Developed a draft Regional Guidelines for
Development of Health Workforce Strategic Plan in SEAR Countries.

Global and Regional Partnerships for Health
Workforce
Health workforce is pivotal for effective and functional
health systems. Challenges relating to equitable distribution of health
workforce, skill mix, and international migration of health workforce are
challenges beyond one country or one region’s efforts to solve. WHO SEARO
works closely with the following alliances for sharing of information,
generation of knowledge and strengthening country planning and action for
health workforce development.
