Technical
assistance has been provided to Member countries in conducting surveys of the
magnitude of neuropsychiatric disorders in the
community, so that countries could use these data for planning and priority
setting.
Indonesia and Nepal have already completed such
surveys. Bhutan and Nepal
have recently completed the surveys and results are being analyzed. India
is conducting a multi-centric survey, which will be the largest of its kind
in the world.
When data from
all these surveys are available, SEARO will consider an inter-country
workshop to discuss the magnitude of neuropsychiatric
disorders in the Region, whether it differs from other Regions and develop
strategies to address the problems.
