World Hepatitis Day

28 July 2011

Hepatitis is a serious public health issue. In the WHO South-East Asia Region, in the past decade, more people have died of viral hepatitis and its consequences than of malaria, dengue and HIV/AIDS combined together, and millions more have been affected for life.  Yet awareness of the dangers of this disease is low.  WHO will mark the first World Hepatitis Day on 28 July 2011 to raise awareness of the public health impact of the disease.
